Breaking News! Carol Hassett continues to talk the talk. In addition to her stints at the University of Richmond as a guest speaker to paralegal wannabes, Carol appeared several times this year at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College as a guest speaker for Susan Brewer’s Family Law class. Carol graduated from Reynolds with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science, major in Legal Assisting, before furthering her education at the University of Richmond.
Susan H. Brewer is the Program Head for the Paralegal Studies program at the college. Ms. Brewer’s Family Law class “[s]tudies elements of a valid marriage, grounds for divorce and annulment, separation, defenses, custody, support, adoptions and applicable tax consequences . . . property settlement, pre- and anti-nuptial agreements, pleadings, and rules of procedure.” Carol shared with the class her experiences working with clients regarding equitable distribution. She views the opportunity to share her knowledge and experiences with future paralegals as a bonus to her career in the legal field.
